quote

"The warm sun is failing, the bleak wind is wailing,
The bare boughs are sighing, the pale flowers are dying, and the year
On the earth her death bed, in a shroud of leaves dead, is lying."
- Percy Bysshe Shelley

"Come months, come away,
From November to May,
In your saddest array;
Follow the bier
Of the dead cold year."

quote

"oh wild West Wind, thou breath of autumn's being,
Thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead
Are driven like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing,
Yellow and black, and pale, and hectic red"
- Percy Bysshe shelley

quote spring

"And the Spring arose in the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest."

poem

MUTABILITY
The flower that smiles today
                      Tomorrow dies;
All that we wish to stay,
                      Tempts and then flies.
What is this world's delight?
Lightning that mocks the night,
   Brief even as bright.

Virtue, how frail it is!
                       Friendship how rare!
Love, how it sells poor bliss
                       For proud despair!
But we, though soon they fall,
Survive their joy and all
  Which ours we call.

Whilst skies are blue and bright,
                       Whilst flowers are gay,
Whilst eyes that change ere night
                        Make glad the day,
Whilst yet the calm hours creep,
Dream thou--and from thy sleep
  Then wake to weep.
 --Percy Bysshe Shelley
